Tunnel Doors

A special function adjusts the tunnel banquet for openings such as tunnel doors.

The function changes the banquet layers on left/right for center door to support open door more than 90 degrees.

Line A1-A2 is horizontal in the longitudinal direction. Line B1-B2 follows the original tunnel slope. C1-C2 segments are used for transition between special curb height to normal curb height.

7 additional cross sections are created at C1, B1, A1, door center, A2, B2, C2. The arrow indicates increasing profile direction.

Parameter Settings

Profile numbers for center door and associated banquet parameters must be entered in a predefined list in Excel.

Use the template mal_Banquet.xls located in the Sys folder (Settings - Gemini Terrain - Personal settings - Installation information - Folders).

Replace "mal" with the name of the SFI file, for example:

  • Test.sfi
  • Test_Banquet.xls

Note

Both files must be located in the project folder.

Column Explanation

Column Description Unit
A Profile number for center door -
D/E/F/G/H/I Distances Meter
J Curb layer (typically 34/35 or user-defined layers) -
K Result curb layer (user-defined numbers for adjusted banquets) -
L Visible part of banquet in adjusted area -
M Depth of invisible part of banquet in adjusted area -
N Banquet layer (typically 36/37 or user-defined layers) -
O Result banquet layer (user-defined numbers for adjusted banquets) -
P Banquet slope normal to center door -

Warning

You must ensure that you choose layers that are not used for other tasks.

Heights for the door are calculated automatically, and after construction you get a log file with information about the adjustments.

Example:

Example of log file with information about tunnel door adjustments

Resulting slopes for the banquet in A1 and A2 are decisive in this log. Negative values mean that the banquet has a slope toward the door.

Important

The function is currently not part of the general construction engine, but a process you can run after standard construction of the tunnel.

Procedure for Building Tunnel Doors

Procedure

  1. Copy mal_Banquet.xls to project folder and change "mal" to name of SFI file
  2. Enter parameters for all tunnel doors in the Excel file
  3. Select desired SFI model in the drawing
  4. Choose the function Parameters for tunnel door... (see below) - Parameters in Excel file are imported to dialog
  5. Select desired rows you want to build and click Build
  6. The result layers for the banquet adjustments are built and log with key information is displayed

Note

All profiles are tagged. This means you can delete old profiles if you change the center point for the door. Deletion is only possible if you build all openings anew (select all rows in the dialog and build).

Copying Points to Application Layer

After construction, you can copy points A1, B1, C1, A2, B2, C2 and lines A1-B1, A2-B2 to application layer.

Procedure

  1. Create application layer with template mal_Banquet.aly
  2. Build tunnel doors
  3. Select application layer and choose Paste objects...
