Introduction¶
These chapters address tasks related to the design of technical infrastructure in residential areas. Such areas may include a variety of buildings—from single-family homes and row houses to larger apartment blocks and terraced houses. Designing in hilly terrain often presents challenges that require thorough 3D modeling. Therefore, emphasis is placed on three-dimensional design and the creation of discipline-specific models.
Discipline models should contain 3D objects that describe the planned situation for a specific discipline, such as roads. These models include only designed data and can be used for staking out and machine control.
Main Topics¶
The design chapters in Gemini Terrain cover the following main areas:
- Road design
- Intersection design
- Pipeline design
- Excavation
- Tunnel
Mass Calculation
In a residential area, there are often several objects (roads, intersections, and excavations) for which you can generate separate mass reports. To get an overview of the total mass balance, you can use the Summary report... function found in the toolbox.
For information on how to create presentation drawings based on your discipline models, see the section Presentation Drawings.
