Presentation Drawings - Predefined Sheets

Plan Drawings

We use plan drawings for general map excerpts, zoning plans, presentation drawings for as-built data, etc.

Some predefined sheets have been created for general plan drawings. The function for plan drawing sheets contains a list of all these sheets. How to use these sheets is described below.

Procedure

  1. Select an existing drawing in the project menu or create a new drawing
  2. Open the drawing with model type Presentation drawing

  4. Select the icon for Plan drawing sheet on the toolbar and choose the desired sheet in the dialog
  5. Switch to terrain model drawing (or open it via the project menu)
  6. Select the icon for Map view on the toolbar. Insert desired scale, placement, and rotation. Click Write map view to vector file

Longitudinal Profile Drawings

We use longitudinal profile drawings for general longitudinal profiles, longitudinal profiles for roads and water/wastewater systems, etc.

Some predefined sheets have been created for longitudinal profile drawings. The function for longitudinal profile sheets contains a list of all these sheets. For roads and intersections, a number of standard sheets have been created according to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's handbook R700 Drawing Basis.

Procedure

  1. Select an existing drawing in the project menu or create a new drawing
  2. Open drawing with model type Presentation drawing
  3. Ensure that Toolkit for longitudinal profile is active
  4. Select the icon for Longitudinal profile sheet on the toolbar and choose the desired sheet in the dialog
  5. Select the icon for Longitudinal profile on the toolbar and set the desired settings
  6. Switch to terrain model drawing (or open it via the project menu)
  7. Select the icon for Map view on the toolbar. Insert desired scale, placement, and rotation. Click Write map view to vector file
  8. Switch to Presentation drawing
  9. Select the icon for Insert map view
  10. Select the icon for Title field and choose the desired title field in the dialog

Cross-section Drawing

Some predefined sheets have been created for general cross-section drawings. The function for cross-section sheets contains a list of all these sheets.

Procedure

  1. Select drawing in the project menu or create a new drawing
  2. Open drawing with model type Presentation drawing
  3. Ensure that Toolkit for cross-sections is active

  5. Select the icon for Cross-section on the toolbar and set the desired settings
  6. Select the icon for Title field and choose the desired title field in the dialog

Manual Sheets

In addition to the sheets mentioned above, we can use manual sheets. These are standard sheets for A0 to A4 formats. We can use manual sheets when we need a special layout of the content on the sheet, such as compilations of different elements like longitudinal profile, cross-sections, legends for layers and mass types, map views, images, mass reports, etc.

This means that we can, for example:

  • Place multiple longitudinal profile windows on the same sheet
  • Place multiple cross-section windows on the same sheet
  • Place longitudinal and cross-section windows on the same sheet
  • Combine longitudinal and cross-section windows with map views

Procedure

  1. Select drawing in the drawing list or create a new drawing
  2. Open drawing with model type Presentation drawing
  3. Select the icon for Manual sheets and choose the desired format (A0-A4)
  4. Select Toolkit for cross-sections
  5. Select the icon Window for map view and legends and insert desired windows if needed
  6. Select the icon Window for cross-sections and insert desired type (skip steps 6-8 if you don't need cross-sections)
  7. Select the icon for Cross-section on the toolbar and set desired SFI file
  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 if you need multiple windows
  9. Activate Toolkit for longitudinal profile (skip steps 10-12 if you don't need longitudinal profiles)
  10. Select the icon Window for longitudinal profile and insert desired type
  11. Select the icon for Longitudinal profile on the toolbar and set desired SFI file
  12. Repeat steps 10 and 11 if you need multiple windows
  13. Select the icon for Title field and choose the desired title field in the dialog

Editing in Longitudinal Profile Drawing

We can edit data in longitudinal profile drawings. Usually, we edit in the windows for longitudinal profile and cross-section editing. For users who design roads and water/wastewater systems, however, it is useful to be able to change vertical curvature and water/wastewater pipes directly in the presentation drawing.

Note

If we insert multiple profile windows in the sheet, it is only possible to edit the one that was inserted last. If we want to edit data in other profile windows, we must temporarily split the command file. For this, we can use Split on the right-click menu in the command list window, see dialog help for a more detailed description.
