Mass Calculation - Cross Section Method - Documentation

Mass report

When one or more mass types are defined, we can calculate masses and create reports:

  • Button for calculating masses Calculate masses

  • Button for creating mass report Create mass report

When we calculate masses using the cross-section method, an Excel report with mass types appears. You can choose whether to report fixed masses or mass balance.

The report contains columns for all mass types in the SFI model. The mass types in the reports are fixed masses. In addition, we have two columns for Balance and Accumulated Balance. The balance report also includes a graphical representation of the result.

  • Balance:

\(Mass\ balance = balance\ factor × mass\ type\ 1 + balance\ factor × mass\ type\ 2 + ...\)

As we can see, the mass types are first converted to a common mass unit and then summed sequentially. The balance factor for a mass type can be positive, negative, or 0.

  • Accumulated balance:

Accumulated mass balance is the sum of all masses from the start.

Presentation drawings of cross-sections

If we want to enhance the presentation, we can create presentation drawings of the cross-sections with marking of the mass types.
