Building layers in tunnel

When you have imported a tunnel project from a consultant to the SFI model, you can build Gemini theoretical layers in the cross-section by using Gemini surface generator.

Tunnel descriptions

Tunnel projects from consultants are imported to the SFI model. You can find the tables under Tunnel descriptions. You can have both manual and parametric tunnel descriptions:

  • Manual description: Import of IREDES and LandXML provides manual description of the tunnel
  • Parametric description: Import of Vianova XML provides parametric description

Note

You can also add tunnel descriptions manually. This is described in more detail under tunnel in the design chapter.

Building layers

When you have a description of the tunnel, you can use Gemini surface generator to build Gemini theoretical layers in the cross-section. This gives you the ability to:

  • Generate theoretical layers based on the tunnel description
  • Visualize the layer structure in cross-section
  • Perform volume calculations and analyses
