Tunnel Stakeout Model

Tunnel descriptions in SFI models can be exported to:

  • IREDES
  • LandXML
  • Leica DBX database

In Gemini Terrain, we can describe a tunnel using two different methods: manual and parametric. It is manual tunnel descriptions that the program exports to external formats. For a parametric tunnel description, the program will automatically perform a temporary conversion to manual tunnel description before the actual export is carried out.

IREDES

A tunnel description in Gemini Terrain can be exported directly to IREDES (XML). The result will be many XML files:

  1. One XML file for each tunnel contour
  2. One XML file for the centerline with indication of the contours' placement on the line

Gemini Terrain uses the following naming convention when a manual tunnel is exported:

  1. [filename][contourname].xml
  2. [filename]Line.xml

Procedure

  1. Mark the centerline in the plan view window
  2. Right-click and select SFI properties...
  3. Open the Import/export tab
  4. Click Export to field...
  5. Check Tunnel
  6. Select format IREDES 2D (.XML) or IREDES 3D (.XML)
  7. Click Browse...
  8. Enter file name and click Open
  9. Click Export
