As-built documentation

Overview

Contractors must document as-built for all completed processes. Measurements serve as the basis for calculating quantities, geometric control, and as-built documentation. This section focuses specifically on the contractor's requirements for delivering as-built documentation to Norge digitalt (FKB), National Road Database (NVDB), and municipal water and sewage databases.

There are many different properties that need to be registered, and practices vary regarding how much should be recorded in the field. After measurements are imported into Gemini Terrain, we can manually add the remaining properties. We can then export the as-built documentation to be delivered, for example in SOSI format.

Note

Gemini Terrain also supports NVDB delivery via the Datafangst API. This is described in more detail in the NVDB section under the Gemini Connected chapter.

Using field codes

Many use fixed field codes in the project for surveying purposes. For projects managed by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, it is common to use field codes from a field code list approved by the client.

Tip

When using field codes, we can also "cross-link" them with Excel forms containing properties for more efficient data registration.

Data validation

The program has a dedicated function for validating objects against the metadata schema in the corresponding application layer. This option is found in the context menu in the application layer list (Tools - Validate data), and is a useful tool for identifying errors and omissions in the objects' attributes.

Delivery types

In the following sections, we will examine three types of deliveries:

  • FKB delivery
  • NVDB delivery
  • Water and sewage delivery (municipal)

Info

Each delivery type has its own requirements and workflows described in separate chapters.
