Introduction to Cloud Projects¶
What are Cloud Projects?¶
We define the term cloud projects as Gemini Terrain projects stored in a Gemini Connected project. Cloud projects offer a range of benefits and represent an important step in enabling lean design, often referred to as concurrent design. The goal is to improve data flow and communication, which is an essential component in achieving more economical, faster, and more agile project execution.
Info
Cloud projects make it possible for multiple people to work simultaneously on the same project, which streamlines work and reduces the risk of errors and misunderstandings.
In addition to Gemini Terrain itself, the web solution for Gemini Connected provides access to selected functionality for managing cloud projects.
It is worth noting that cloud projects you actively work with are stored both locally and in the cloud. This way, you get the best of both worlds: the speed of working on your own machine and the security of having all data stored in the cloud. Gemini Terrain has undergone extensive development to optimize performance when working with the cloud.
Security and Availability¶
When working with cloud projects, all data is stored on Microsoft Azure servers in Microsoft's data centers. Here, you have one of the market's strongest systems for data security, both against loss and theft of data.
Beyond the storage itself, project data in cloud projects is always available to everyone working on the same project. This also provides the opportunity to grant access to the project to other stakeholders in a project, whether it be the client, consultant, or subcontractor.
Getting Started¶
The following chapters describe the various steps to get started with cloud projects, and suggestions for setup are provided along the way.
