Drag and drop to application layer and model lists

As an alternative to File - Import, we now have support for drag and drop.

Drag and drop is an interactive method that involves selecting a file in explorer or on the desktop, holding down the left mouse button, dragging the file to the application layer or model list, and releasing the button to import the file there.

The program checks whether the file can be dropped in the list. If the list does not support the file format, it will not be possible to drop the file here.

More flexibility in IFC export

More options in the project settings to control export of attributes in Gemini:

You can enter Project name (IfcProject) in this dialog. If the field is blank, the program will use the project name and description in the general properties dialog.

Furthermore, you can also enter Name of exported construction site (IfcSite). Gemini-map is the default name (for backward compatibility).

You can also set how various attributes from the schema should be exported.

Export description as part of attribute values

Normally, descriptions for attribute values (such as S_FCODE) are placed in a description/specification field separate from the value itself.

However, most IFC viewers ignore the description field and only show the user the code.

With this option, you can decide whether the description should be added to the value during export.

Export of geometry attributes in application layer

Here you can choose whether geometry attributes should be included, and what name the PSet should have. The default name is Ter_Qto_Geometry. This is used to avoid conflict with standard IFC-PSet. Common fields are for example Length, Area and Volume.

Export of attributes at root level

Here you can choose whether attributes that are at root level (and that do not belong to a group in the schema) should be included, and what the PSet should be called. The default name is Attributes.

Export of groups in the schema

Here you can choose whether groups in the schema should be included or not. You can also specify a prefix for the PSet groups. The default value is an empty string (no prefix). The prefix is used to avoid name conflicts with standard IFC-PSet.

Extended support in export selection to field

Export - Export selection to field... on the context menu for application layers now also supports DXF/DWG.

Improved DWG export (Gemini extensions)

Export to DWG is now handled differently with or without attachments. In other words, it is easier to export to DWG when we do not want to include attachments.

  • With attachments (images, point clouds, textures): Select an empty result folder when you export. The DWG file gets the same name as the folder, and the attachments are stored in separate subfolders there.
  • Without attachments: Just press Export, and you will get a dialog box where you can select a folder and enter a filename.

VIPS import

VIPS import now also supports old VIPS projects (gen files).

Export of VIPS layers to XML

Shape import/export

The program now supports Shape prj files.

Coordinate system information is read on import and written on export of application layer data.
