User-Defined Coordinate System

Use this guide to create a local coordinate system that is not linked to an official system.

Using the Dialog

Procedure

    • Go to Settings Gemini Terrain - Coordinate Reference Systems - Horizontal Coordinate Systems - Horizontal Datum - New.
    • Enter the values as shown in the image below. This datum will be used for the coordinate system.

  1. Define a new coordinate system:

    • Go to Settings Gemini Terrain - Coordinate Reference Systems - Horizontal Coordinate Systems - New.
    • For map projection, you can use stereographic. In practice, this has little significance.
    • Since the datum is zeroed, no corrections will be applied.
    • The local system usually covers a small area, so corrections to the data are not necessary.
    • If you want to apply a shift to your data in the local system, you can enter values for origin shift.
    • For datum, select the user-defined datum.

Note

If you need to measure with GPS in the area, you cannot use a local system. In that case, you must use an official system.
