VIPS surfaces¶
The surfaces are divided into main groups, and each group can contain several sub-surfaces. The surface number consists of a number for the main group and a number, separated by a period, for the sub-surface.
| Main group no. | Main group name | Number of sub-surfaces |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Median | 99 |
| 1 | Lane | 99 |
| 2 | Shoulder | 99 |
| 3 | Additional surfaces | 99 |
| 4 | Ditch | 99 |
| 5 | Rock cut | 99 |
| 6 | Earth cut | 99 |
| 7 | Fill | 99 |
| 8 | Grading | 99 |
| 9 | Other surfaces | 99 |
Surfaces on the left side of the centerline have a negative sign. Surfaces are assembled in ascending order by surface number, both for main groups and sub-surfaces.

Additional surfaces can be used to describe elements beside the road that are closely related to it, such as noise barriers, sidewalks, ramps, and pedestrian and bicycle paths.
