Export IREDES

Use this dialog to export a tunnel description directly to IREDES (XML).

Where to Find the Dialog

On the toolbar, select SFI Model - Import/Export - Export IREDES.

IREDES 2D and IREDES 3D

The export produces several XML files:

  • One XML file for each tunnel contour
  • One XML file for the centerline (3D line) indicating the position of contours along the line

Gemini Terrain uses the following naming convention for manual tunnel export:

  • [filename][contourname].xml
  • [filename]Line.xml

You can choose between IREDES 2D and IREDES 3D. Profile numbers in Gemini Terrain are given relative to the centerline in 2D. If the profile numbers should refer to the 3D line, select IREDES 3D, for example when exporting to Atlas. All profile numbers will then be adjusted to follow the 3D line.

Note

Only the content of the tunnel contour table and rotation table is exported for tunnels (unlike roads). Result data (constructed surfaces in the cross-sections) are not included.

Export Process

During export, temporary fields are added to the rotation table if a surface is specified in the rotation table and this surface changes in the surface description. If you have road parameters (automatic method), the surface description is first converted to road parameters (manual method).

The centerline is split into straight line segments with an accuracy of 5 mm. Additionally, an element is added to the centerline for each line in both the tunnel contour table and rotation table, if this element does not already exist in the centerline.
