Merge Layers¶
Use this dialog to merge multiple layers into a single layer.
Where to Find the Dialog¶
Right-click in the Group Editing dialog and select Merge Layers...
Description of Options in the Dialog¶
Highest/Lowest allows you to choose whether the highest or lowest layer is used when the layers to be merged overlap.
Prioritize Layer (...)
End/End merges two layers at their endpoints, for example, creating a closed layer composed of Tunnel Blasting Profile and Trench.
Result Layer is the layer where the merged result is saved. This will overwrite any existing data in the layer, so if you want to save the result in a custom user-defined layer, you must create it first. For example, you can use the Duplicate... function in group editing.
Prioritized Layer/Prioritized Code Layer is the layer that takes priority when naming surfaces in the new layer.
Procedure
- Select the profiles, right-click, and choose Group Editing...
- Select the relevant layers in the list.
- Right-click and select Merge...
- Check the desired method.
- Select the result layer.
- Click OK.
Examples¶
Example 1
A typical example is shown below. Here, we want a layer consisting of the road surface and earthwork.
Before merging:

A* = Earthwork, B* = Road Surface
After merging with the Highest method:

A = Merged
Example 2
Before merging:

A* = Tunnel Blasting Profile, B* = Trench
After merging with the End/End method:

A = Composite
