Register Quantities¶
Use this dialog to register quantities from Gemini Terrain to the services Gemini QuantiFlow or Gemini Metrix.
Where do I find this dialog?¶
On the toolbar, select the icon Register quantities.... The function is also available via right-click when an SFI/EFI/XFI model is selected.
Note
The method requires that the service Gemini QuantiFlow and/or Gemini Metrix is activated in the Gemini Connected project, and that you have an internet connection.
Using the dialog¶
Before the function is started, contract posts must be linked to mass type/application layer object.
Note that if you use both services in the project, Executed quantities are registered to both services simultaneously.
Procedure for Gemini QuantiFlow
- Select the file(s) you want to register quantities from
- Select the contract post(s) you want to register quantities for
- Select the individual quantities to be registered
- Click Register to execute registration, and a status message for the registration is displayed
- Optionally switch to the Document quantities dialog to generate and add documentation for the registered quantities
- Quantities are quality-assured in the Validation process in the web solution for Gemini Connected, where they are included in the quantity history upon approval. If Gemini ProAdm is also used, quantities are also transferred there for generating measurement certificates
Procedure for Gemini Metrix
In advance, use the Gemini Metrix Properties dialog to define which files are Estimated and Executed and link these together.
- Check whether you want to register quantities as Executed or Estimated
- Select the file(s) you want to register quantities from
- Select the contract post(s) you want to register quantities for
- Select the individual quantities to be registered
- Click Register to execute registration, and a status message for the registration is displayed
Executed/Estimated¶
This option is active if you have activated Gemini Metrix. Check Executed to register executed quantities, and Estimated to register estimated quantities.
You define which files deliver estimated or executed quantities and the connection between these in the Gemini Metrix Properties dialog.
| Type | Gemini Metrix (estimated) | Gemini Metrix (executed) | Gemini QuantiFlow |
|---|---|---|---|
| None | - | - | X |
| Estimated | X | - | - |
| Executed | - | X | X |
| Both | X | X | X |
The table shows which quantities are registered to which service based on Type set in Gemini Metrix Properties
Files¶
At the top left of the dialog, the models in the active drawing are listed. Check the box for the one(s) you want to register quantities from, or right-click to mark a selection.
Field descriptions¶
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Show only files with previous registrations | Check to shorten the content in the list, so that only files from which quantities have been previously registered are shown |
| Search field | Makes it easy to search for parts of a filename |
| Column # | Shows the number of quantities registered from the file previously |
| Column Type | Displayed if Gemini Metrix is activated. Shows whether the file is used to deliver executed or estimated quantities. Type is set in the Gemini Metrix Properties dialog |
| Column Interval | Shows the profile interval specified in the Gemini Metrix Properties dialog |
Warning
Files must be locked for editing so that quantities can be registered from them (marked with #), so the quantities can be traced to a known version of the file. Mass types must be calculated before registration.
Note
- If you are in profile editing, the file with displayed profiles will automatically be preselected in the list
- If you select an SFI/EFI/XFI file in terrain model drawing before the Register quantities function is started, this file will be preselected
Contract Posts¶
When file(s) are selected, contract posts used in these are listed in the bottom left list. Check the box for the item(s) you want to register quantities for, or right-click to mark a selection.
The search field at the top makes it easy to search for parts of a contract post code or title.
A complete description of contract posts can be found by right-clicking on the item and selecting Info..., where you can also display the item in the web solution by clicking the More... button.
Quantities¶
When contract posts are selected, the list of quantities that can be registered is filled out in the right part of the dialog. One total quantity is calculated for each post in each file. If, for example, a contract post is used in multiple mass types in the same file, this is combined into one quantity. Check the box for the one(s) you want to register. If the file is not locked for editing, you cannot select possible quantities.
All columns can be sorted in ascending/descending order by clicking on the column header. The dialog is scalable and can be adapted to the content. By right-clicking on a row, you can view the contract post description by clicking Info...
Description of columns¶
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Contract post | Shows the contract post code. If you hover the mouse pointer over the codes, the item's code and name are displayed as a tooltip. Full description can be obtained by right-clicking on the row and selecting Info... |
| File | The data basis for the quantity proposal |
| Total quantity | Contains the total quantity for the item in the current file, and is the value that is registered |
| Previously approved | Shows total quantity for the last registered quantity that has previously been validated as approved for the selected post in file. The column is not displayed when registering estimated quantities |
| For approval | Shows whether there are registered quantities that are not validated from the selected post/file. When quantities are registered, this column is filled out progressively. It is the value for the last registered quantity that is shown |
| Difference | Shows a preliminary calculation of the difference between Total quantity and Previously approved. This value is not registered from Gemini Terrain, but is calculated finally during validation |
| Profile area/obj.type | Lists the profile area or the number of the different object types in an application layer that forms the basis for the total quantity. The profile area is included as description during registration |
Example of total quantity
- Application layer: If the same unit item is used on both lines and points in an application layer, it is the total sum of number of lines + number of points on the item that can be registered
- Mass types: If the same m³ item is used in multiple mass types in the same file, it is the sum of these mass types that can be registered
When registering quantities from mass types, the mass type(s) for the selected item/file will be displayed in a separate field at the bottom right of the dialog. If you have needed to create multiple mass types to calculate an item, the value for these is combined into one common, collected total value for the item. Then the Profile area/obj.type field will show the profile areas where at least one of the mass types occurs.
Description of right-click functions¶
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Select | Select marked quantity for registration |
| Remove selection | Remove selection of the quantity |
| Info... | View full description for contract post |
| History... | View history for executed quantities registered to Gemini Metrix |
Execute registration¶
Click the Register button to transfer the quantities to Gemini Connected.
Gemini QuantiFlow¶
For quantities registered to Gemini QuantiFlow, documentation can be linked to the registered quantity before the quantity is quality-assured during validation in the web solution. This can be done in the Document quantities dialog or in the web solution.
Warning
The user is not prevented from registering new quantities before previous registrations are validated. Usually this is neither desirable nor appropriate, so the program will ask the user if this is attempted.
Filter¶
At the top right, there are various filters that can limit what is displayed in the list of quantities that can be registered. The filters are activated or deactivated by clicking on the different icons. If the icon is highlighted with a thick black line, it is active. Depending on other choices made, you may need to turn the filters off and on again to display the desired quantities.
Limit to items without registration¶
If this filter is activated, the content is limited to quantities for items where quantities have not yet been registered from the selected file. If quantities have already been registered for the selected item from the selected file, possible new quantities for these are hidden.
Show only contract posts where quantities have changed¶
If this filter is activated, the content is limited to quantities where the quantity that now lies in the file, has changed since the previous approved registration. This applies whether previously registered quantities are validated as approved or not.
This way you can easily see where you most likely should register new quantities.
Error registrations¶
Quantities are easily corrected by registering a new quantity.
Gemini QuantiFlow
From version 19 of Gemini Terrain, there is no longer a need for withdrawal of quantities (reset), which is a known method for users of previous versions.
However, we have support for correcting quantities in special situations, which is described in more detail below.
Quantities are registered for an item that is no longer in use in the file¶
If quantities are registered for an item from a file, and you later discover, for example, that this was an error and therefore remove the item from the application layer object/mass type so that the total quantity for the item in the file is now 0, this will be visible in the Register quantities dialog.
Such quantities will be listed at the top when files are selected for quantity registration, so you get to register a quantity with total value 0 even if the item is no longer in use in the file. After registration, the quantity undergoes normal validation and the quantity history is maintained.
Delete individual registered quantities that are not yet approved in validation¶
This may be necessary if quantities are registered by mistake, and is available from the Document quantities dialog.
Such quantities can also be deleted in Gemini Connected web.
Delete all quantities registered from a file¶
This may be necessary if quantities are registered from a file that should be deleted from the project, and is available by right-clicking on the file in the Document quantities dialog.
Note
The quantities must be removed before the file is deleted.
Validation of quantities to Gemini QuantiFlow¶
During validation, registered quantities are quality-assured. Validation is performed in the web solution, and ensures that registered quantities are handled in the correct order to reflect current data in Gemini Terrain. Quantities that are approved are included in the post's total quantity and quantity history, and are transferred to Gemini ProAdm.
Info
You can read more about validation in the user manual.
