Generate Parameters from Road Class¶
Use this dialog to generate a standard cross-section, standard superelevation diagram, and standard widening for road models (SFIs) where a road class has been selected. The dialog is only active for such models.
Where do I find the dialog?¶
In the toolbox, select the SFI Properties... icon, go to the Road Body tab, and click Edit... for Road Parameters (Automatic).
Using the dialog¶
You perform the calculation by clicking Generate.... The result is filled directly into the list of active parameters.
Procedure
- Open the dialog for Road Parameters (Automatic) via the Road Body tab.
- Click Generate... to perform the calculation.
- Review and, if necessary, edit the suggested values.
- Click OK to save the changes.
Cross-section¶
The standard values for the cross-section are automatically retrieved from the road class. You can change the suggested values, for example, to:
- Use an alternative design as shown in the road standard
- Add carriageway lanes on one or both sides of the road
Warning
The intersection functionality does not support medians. The geometry may therefore be incorrect between intersections and roads in such cases.
Superelevation¶
Superelevation is calculated according to the road standards. Note that q (roof slope on straight sections) varies between countries:
- Norway: q = 3%
- Sweden: q = 2.5%
Widening¶
Widening is based on the design vehicle. You can choose between two methods:
- Symmetrical widening
Provides standard widening according to the road standards. - Asymmetrical widening
Follows the vehicle's wheel path in and out of the curve. Provides less widening, but covers the needs of the design vehicle.
The option Keep values in start profile is used, for example, when connecting to an existing road. If this is not selected, the widening always starts with 0 and standard roof slope (q = 3%) in the start profile for the road alignment.
