Generate Points

Use this dialog to generate points along a line definition.

Where can I find the dialog?

In the toolbox, select Line Definition - Line Definition Data - Generate...

You can generate new points at each curve point or at fixed intervals along the line. Start and end profiles can be entered manually or selected on the screen.

This function is primarily intended for use with the data type "Temporary Data." Values will be generated for the fields: Profile No., East, North, Elevation, and Point ID.

Once the points are generated, you can copy them to the clipboard using the Copy function (right-click in the list). You can then paste them into other programs such as Word and Excel.

Example

Example of generating profile points with a 10 m interval:

• Prefix: P
• Start number: 0
• Increment: 10

This gives P0, P10, P20, etc.
