Create/Update Polygon from Lines¶
Use this dialog to create new polygons or update the geometry (while retaining properties) of existing polygons from lines in the active application layer.
For this to work automatically, the lines to be polygonized must be in topological form.
Where can I find the dialog?¶
In the Planning, Design, and Execution toolset, select the icon for Create/Update Polygon from Lines...
Create Polygon¶
Procedure
- Set the relevant application layer as active and select the function in the toolset. Create new is automatically checked if you have not selected a polygon beforehand.
- Point to the side of the line where you want the polygon to be created. An orange preview will appear on the screen. Point again if you are not satisfied with which polygon was polygonized.
- Click Save to save the displayed polygon and continue directly to create a new polygon, or Save and Exit to save the polygon and exit the function. Cancel cancels the function without saving any previewed polygon.
Update Polygon¶
Procedure
- Set the relevant application layer as active. Select an existing polygon and choose the function in the toolset. Update existing is automatically checked.
- Point to the existing polygon you want to update. The existing polygon will be shown as a blue grid, and a preview of the updated polygon will be shown in orange. Point again if you are not satisfied with which polygon was polygonized.
- Click Save to save the displayed polygon and continue directly to update a new polygon, or Save and Exit to save the polygon and exit the function. Cancel cancels the function without updating any selected polygon.
You can zoom or pan at any time to navigate the model when creating or updating polygons. If polygonization fails due to poor topology, use the Polygonization failed, zoom to last point button to go directly to the problem area. If you click Save in such a case, no polygon will be saved.
You can read more about this function in the user documentation under Application Layer - Create/Update Polygon from Lines.
