Triangulate Points Along Line

Use this dialog to triangulate a collection of individual points or point cloud objects in an application layer, using a line as an extra criterion.

Where do I find the dialog?

In the context menu of the terrain model drawing (when a point cloud and a line are selected in the view), select Tools - Triangulate Points Along Line...

Using the dialog

This triangulation method is often used in connection with tunnels. Typically, you have profiled/scanned data for the tunnel and horizontal and vertical geometry or a 3D line for the centerline.

You can also generate profiles directly from point clouds without triangulating in advance.

Procedure

  1. Make the layer with the input data active
  2. Select points or point cloud objects, as well as the line, in the view
  3. Select Triangulate Points Along Line from the context menu
  4. Check the relevant options
  5. Click OK to perform the triangulation
