Generate Elevation Annotation¶
Use this dialog to generate elevation annotations for lines in an application layer.
Where can I find the dialog?¶
In the context menu of the terrain model drawing, select Generate Elevation Annotation...
Using the Dialog¶
Generated texts are independent objects, meaning they are not linked to the line objects. This function is useful, for example, when annotating elevation curves.
Before generating the text, you must make some choices:
- Code field is usually
S_FCODE(theme code). - The dropdown menu shows all code values you can choose from. For elevation curves, it is common to select value 2001 Elevation Curves.
- Contour interval determines which lines will receive elevation text. If you set 0 (zero) in the field, all affected lines will receive elevation text. If you set 5, all 5-meter contours will receive elevation text, and so on.
The elevation text is rotated perpendicular to the line you digitize on the screen. If you check Text parallel with line, the result will be as shown below:

Example of elevation annotation parallel to line
Before performing annotation, you must enter a line (path) on the screen. Digitize the line by pointing and clicking the left mouse button. You perform annotation by clicking the Execute button. This function provides a preview on the screen. The texts are only saved to the active layer when you click OK.
