Paste Objects¶
Use this dialog to paste copied objects into the application layer.
Where to find the dialog?¶
Right-click in the vertical list field for application layers and select Paste Objects..., or right-click in the horizontal list field and select Paste...
Using the dialog¶
You can copy objects in two ways:
- Select data in the horizontal list field and choose Copy from the context menu
- Select data on the screen and choose Copy Objects from the application layer's context menu. With this method, you can copy all types of objects at once.
When you select Paste, either in the object list or from the application layer's context menu, you must decide how the attributes should be handled.
Attribute options¶
You can choose between the following options:
- No attributes – No attributes are copied
- All attributes – All attributes are copied with the objects
- Only attributes that exist in the application layer – Only attributes that exist in the target application layer are copied
Additionally, you can activate match similar attribute names. The matching is based on Levenshtein distance, which is the minimum number of changes (insertions, deletions, or substitutions) required to change one word into another. The algorithm selects the attribute that requires zero or the fewest changes. There is a limit so that attributes that are too different are not matched. ID numbers, such as those in some NVDB attributes, are not included in the Levenshtein distance.
Warning
Levenshtein distance does not always produce perfect matches, especially when names can have large variations in spelling, spaces, etc. The result should therefore always be verified.
