Create Point¶
Use this dialog to create or edit point objects in an application layer.
Where can I find the dialog?¶
In the Planning, Design, and Execution toolbox of the terrain model drawing, select Create Point...
Rotation¶
The program uses the standard mathematical system for specifying rotation: 0 towards east, 90 towards north, 180 towards west, and 270 towards south.
Unknown Elevation¶
Check the Unknown elevation field if you want to create points without an elevation value. Note that active snapping overrides this if the new point snaps to an object with elevation.
Increase Attribute Value for New Points¶
This option is useful when snapping many points consecutively on the screen. The point number will automatically increase during the digitizing process.
Example
Attribute to increase: S_OBJID
Increase by: 1
This gives the following point numbers during digitizing: P1, P2, P3, etc.
Procedure
- Select the function to create a point in the application layer.
- Select the attribute and step (the value to increase by).
- Enter the starting value in the attribute field.
- Click OK and place the point on the screen (point and click the left mouse button).
- Insert more points if desired (press [Backspace] to change the value).
- Press [Esc] to finish adding points.
How to Add Annotation to the Point?¶
When you create new points by pointing on the screen, it is useful to have annotation defined and active. This way, you can directly see the point numbers assigned to the points during digitizing.
Define annotation in the property dialog for the application layer under the Annotation... tab.
How to Move a Point?¶
When Grips is active and you select a point in an application layer, two handles appear: one for the point and one for the annotation.
By grabbing the handle for the point, you can move it dynamically on the screen. Alternatively, right-click and select Move Object ([Ctrl] + [M]).

Example of using Grips
You can also right-click on the annotation point for more options, such as Rotate Annotation, etc.
How to Change the Presentation for the Point?¶
The presentation is linked to a property (often S_FCODE). Set up the presentation rules in the property dialog for the application layer under the Presentation... tab.
