Presentation Rule Pipe

Use this dialog to define 3D presentations of pipes, both circular and rectangular.

Sizing Pipes

Circular Pipes

For circular pipes, enter the value for the inner diameter in the Diameter field.

Rectangular Pipes

The size of rectangular pipes is determined by the Width and Height fields. These are also inner values.

Thickness

You can enter a value in the Thickness field. Leaving this field blank means the options bottom inside and bottom outside will be the same.

Using variables

You can enter exact values for the dimensions, or use variables. This means you retrieve values from properties in the application layer.

Procedure for variables

  1. Enter properties with the % sign before and after the name, for example %DIAMETER%
  2. Write the name exactly as defined in the application layer (case-sensitive)
  3. Click the button with three dots to select directly from a list of available properties

Reference Point and Offset

You must select a reference point for the line. If you have measured the bottom inside of the pipe, select the reference point bottom inside pipe.

Additionally, you can specify width and height offset. If you have measured bottom inside, but want the line to follow bottom outside, you can solve this by entering a value for height offset.

Example of circular pipe. A = Thickness, B = Bottom inside, C = Bottom outside

Bend in pipes

You can also check Bend and enter Bend radius.

Note

For rectangular pipes, bends are only inserted if the lines lie in a horizontal plane. A tip is to check the rule for Parallel/flat.

Bend radius can also be retrieved from a property in the application layer using the three dots button.

A = Bend radius

Important notes for bends

Bends at kink points are unproblematic if you have center as the reference point. For rectangular pipes, bends work for lines that only have kinks in the horizontal plane.

Warning

If you use other options, note that the presentation shifts slightly relative to the reference line. The greater the kink, the greater the shift. You will easily see the deviation in the 3D view when the properties dialog for the line is open.

Example With and Without Bend
