GMI Standard Properties

Use this dialog to modify basic properties for application layers.

Where do I find the dialog?

Select application layer (GMI) in the vertical list field, right-click and select Properties....

Delete data

You can use this dialog to delete all data in the application layer.

Coordinate and height system

Where data is located on Earth is specified by a coordinate and height system. You can change this information directly in the dialog using dropdown menus.

Warning

Data in the application layer is not affected by changes in the reference system. In other words, no transformation of the data coordinates is performed. The ability to change the information is useful, for example, if the wrong system was selected from the beginning.

When you create a project, you select the coordinate and height system for it.

When you create an application layer, the application layer gets the same coordinate and height system as the project.

If these are different for some reason, the application layer is marked with red color in the list.

The dialog also provides an overview of the extent and content in the application layer.

Transparency Factor

Determines how transparent an object should be. The value is specified as a number between 0 and 1:

  • 0 = opaque (fully visible)
  • 1 = completely transparent (invisible)

  • Intermediate values provide partial transparency (e.g., 0.5 = 50% transparent)

Save template

You can save all parts of the setup to a template with the Save template... button.

You can later use this setup when you create new application layers. In the tabs for Metadata, Presentation and Filter you can also retrieve relevant setup with Retrieve from template...

Save changes / Ignore changes

You work with a data structure in memory (not directly with the storage format). Only when you use the general saving options on the File menu, toolbar or the Save changes... button in this dialog is the content written to the file.

If you regret changes that have been made, you can press Ignore changes... The content from the previous save will then be retrieved again.

With the option Save copy as... you can create a copy of the application layer.
