Image Application Layer¶
Use this dialog to define an image application layer.
Where to Find the Dialog¶
Select the image application layer in the vertical list field, right-click, and choose Properties...
Using the Dialog¶
Application layers of this type are linked to an image. The image you add in the dialog will be correctly positioned on the map if it has an associated world file. The exception is TIFF files, which may have this information stored within the file itself (GeoTIFF).
Tip
If the image is not georeferenced, you must georeference the file manually. You can find this function in the context menu of the application layer. Select the application layer, right-click, and choose Tools - Georeference image application layer...
The Reset transformation button allows you to reset the transformation for a raster. The button is grayed out if there is no transformation. Resetting is only possible when the transformation is written in the world file or geotiff metadata (Georeference image).
Using the Terrain Model Area¶
You can choose whether to use the terrain model area or the screen area for display. If you use the terrain model area, the image will not update when zooming. It maintains the same resolution regardless of the screen area. When using the terrain model area, the value Max. number of pixels in raster images in the Drawing Settings dialog controls the number of pixels in the image. The image is regenerated each time you change the size of the terrain model area.
Transparency¶
You can choose to use transparency. Note that this may slightly reduce performance. You can set the transparency factor, where 1 is fully transparent.
You can also specify a color to be 100% transparent. Typically, this will be the area outside the image if the image information does not cover the entire area.

3D Presentation¶
With Link to layer type in 3D, you can link the raster image to a selected layer so that the image is draped over this layer in 3D view. The layer number is also shown in the list of application layers, allowing you to see the connection directly.
