Average of Points

Use this dialog to calculate the average of points in a selected set based on a specified tolerance limit.

Where to Find the Dialog

Right-click in the horizontal list field, and select Tools - Average of Points...

Using the Dialog

This function is useful when you have single point measurements, and measurements of the same point have not been assigned the same Point ID.

For example, if you have measured ST1-1, ST1-2, and ST1-3, averaging will merge these into one point and update the observations to refer to the averaged point. The point ID will be set to the lowest of the relevant names.

Procedure

  1. Select the relevant points in the list.
  2. Choose Tools - Average of Points.
  3. Enter a radius for averaging points.
  4. You can also choose to average only the north and east coordinates and keep the points. This will result in several points located at the same place.
  5. Click OK to perform the averaging.

Info

If there are single point measurements, you have collected measurements of the same point, and it can be adjusted.
