Reduce Number of Line Points

Use this dialog to reduce the amount of data in lines or polygons, for example, the number of points in a contour line.

Where can I find the dialog?

Right-click in the horizontal list field, and select Reduce Number of Line Points.

Parameters

Corridor Distance

This is the maximum distance allowed between two points in a line.

Corridor Width

The function evaluates three points. A corridor with a defined width is created between the first point (1) and the last point (3).

Corridor Created Between First and Last Point

If point (2) is outside this corridor, it will be removed. The program then creates a new corridor from the last three points. The program also continuously checks against the defined corridor distance.

New Corridor Created for the Next Point Group

In this way, the program processes the entire line.
