Distribute objects with field code XREF schema

Use this dialog to distribute and import data to application layers with field code XREF schema (cross-reference schema).

Where do I find the dialog?

On right mouse button in vertical list field, select Distribute objects with field code XREF schema... on the submenu to Tools - Cross-reference attributes with Excel.

Using the dialog

A field code attribute is a cross-linking key for distribution of objects and importing of attributes from Excel schemas.

Procedure

  1. Check that the correct field code attribute is set under Gemini Terrain Settings - Project - Field Codes.
  2. Select the application layers that data should be distributed and imported to and select Export field code XREF schema.
  3. Enter values for the attributes in the Excel schema.
  4. Select the application layer that objects should be copied from and set this active.
  5. Select Distribute objects by field code XREF on the submenu to Tools - Cross-reference attributes with Excel
  6. Press Browse and select Excel file. Change if needed choices for import control. For example, the choice Copy all properties from source application layer to target application layer can be useful if the source application layer contains properties that do not exist in the Excel schema.
  7. Press OK to execute.

You must ensure that all application layers that data should be copied to are in the drawing, and have rights for editing these.

After the operation is performed you get a status report. The report logs how many cross-links were performed and how many were not performed due to problems.

For the objects that were cross-linked without problems you will see in the horizontal list field that the property S_OBJECTLINK is filled out with the name of the application layer it was distributed to.
