WCS Properties

Use this dialog to set up WCS layers (Web Coverage Service) for access to elevation data.

Where do I find the dialog?

1. Select the WCS layer in the vertical list field.
2. Right-click and select Properties...
3. Click the WCS... button.

Norwegian Digital Elevation Model (NDH)

The Norwegian WCS service for the National Digital Elevation Model, NDH (hoydedata.no), is supported.

NDH features:

• Continuously updated
• Covers large parts of Norway
• 1 meter point spacing
• Free access

Model Types

Standard (DTM – Digital Terrain Model):

• Digital terrain models
• Trees and buildings are filtered out

Surface Models (DOM – Digital Surface Model):

• Point clouds with trees and buildings included
• Change the URL to access DOM data

URL Example

DTM to DOM: Change the URL from DTM to DOM in the service setup.

Procedure

Setting up a WCS layer

1. Right-click in the vertical list field and select Create...
2. Check WCS server, enter a name for the layer, and click OK.
   • Alternatively: Use a template if available.
3. Click WCS... to set up the service.
4. Enter the server URL (default server for Norwegian elevation data).
5. Username and password:
   • Enter if required.
   • The default service does not require login.
6. Click Fetch to download available services.
7. Select "Coverage" and the corresponding properties:
   • Example: 1 together with Supported CRS EPSG:25832 (UTM zone 32).
8. Click OK.
