Geometric Control – Point Difference

Use this dialog to compare two coordinate sets for a point and calculate the deviation between the measured and theoretical positions.

Where can I find the dialog?

Right-click in the horizontal list field for points, and select Geometric Control - Point Difference...

Prerequisites

To perform a point difference analysis, you need:

Requirements for application layers

  • An application layer with measured points (observed positions)
  • An application layer with theoretical points (reference values/"ground truth")

Procedure

Procedure

  1. Select the points in the application layer with the measured points you want to analyze for deviation.

  2. Right-click and select Geometric Control - Point Difference...

  3. Select the application layer with the theoretical points ("ground truth") you want to compare with.

  4. Choose the method for finding corresponding points.

  5. Enter tolerance requirements for acceptable deviations.

  6. Click OK to perform the control.

Results

The calculation results are presented in three ways:

  • Horizontal list window: Numeric values for each point

  • Excel report: Detailed point difference report

  • Graphical representation: Visual display in plan and 3D view
