Sun/Shade Map¶
Use this dialog to create a sun/shade map. The starting point is a terrain model, and the result is polygons for areas with and without sunlight.
Where can I find the dialog?¶
In the toolbox for Planning, Design, and Execution in the terrain model drawing, select Create thematic map (landscape analysis)...
Sun Position¶
The program calculates the shadow according to the sun's position. You can enter the Solar Inclination and Azimuth manually, or select Edit Sun... to have these values calculated automatically based on the chosen time and location.
Solar Inclination¶
The angle between the sun's direction and the horizontal plane.
Azimuth¶
The angle of the sunlight in the XY-plane relative to geographic north. The angle is measured clockwise.
Data Basis¶
The function uses the grid model, but you can also include buildings and 3D objects that have been inserted into the drawing.
Performing the Analysis¶
Once the sun's position is set, create the sun/shade map by clicking Execute. After the analysis is complete, you can paste the polygons onto an application layer. The program includes a template with presentation rules that can be used when creating the application layer.
