Surveying Application Layer Properties

Use this dialog to manage properties for application layers of the surveying type.

Where do I find the dialog?

Select application layer (GMI) in the vertical list field, right-click and select Properties.

Functions

Delete data

You can use this dialog to delete all data in the application layer.

Coordinate and elevation system

Where data is located on Earth is specified by a coordinate and elevation system. You can change this information directly in the dialog using dropdown menus.

Warning

Data in the application layer is not affected by changes to the reference system. In other words, no transformation of the data coordinates is performed.

Tip

The ability to change coordinate system information is useful if the wrong system was selected from the start for some reason.

When you create a project, you select the coordinate and elevation system for it. When you create an application layer, the layer gets the same coordinate and elevation system as the project.

Warning

If the coordinate systems are different for some reason, the layer is marked with red color in the list.

The Average geoid height option is active if the layer's reference system does not have a geoid model. The program then uses the average value given in the average geoid height field.

Info

The average value is saved to the layer, and can be changed if the geoid height varies considerably within the relevant area.

Info

See the general help for more details on using KREG.

Simulation mode

In simulation mode you can plan a measurement setup in the office.

Note

Layers in simulation mode are visually marked in the layer list with [SIM] layername.

Simulation is described in more detail in the general help.

The dialog also provides an overview of the extent and content of the application layer.

Template handling

Save template

You can save all parts of the setup to a template with the Save template button.

You can later use this setup when creating new application layers.

Tip

In the Metadata and Presentation tabs you can also retrieve relevant setup with Get from template.

Save changes / Ignore changes

We work with a data structure in memory (not directly with the storage format). Only when we use the general save options on the File menu, the toolbar or the Save changes button in this dialog is the content written to the file.

Tip

If you regret changes that have been made, you can click Ignore changes. The content from the previous save is then retrieved again.

Copy application layer

With the Save copy as option we can create a copy of the application layer.
