Export¶
Use this dialog to export data from an application layer in Gemini Terrain to an external format.
Where do I find the dialog?¶
In the properties dialog for application layer, select the Import/Export tab and click Export.
Alternatively: In the right-click menu for application layer, select Export - Export other formats.
Profiles¶
The installation includes a set of predefined profiles. The program uses these when importing SOSI data. In the Profile dropdown list, you can choose between these predefined profiles, as well as any custom profiles you have defined.
You cannot modify the predefined profiles. The usual practice when exporting is to use the
Coordinate and elevation system¶
To coordinate system / To elevation system¶
This field shows the coordinate system and elevation system that are defined for the project. You can change the coordinate system or elevation system if you want to transform the data in the same operation as you export data. In these cases, the program opens the dialog for transformation between different coordinate systems or elevation systems. You can then transform the data provided that a transformation formula exists.
Info
You can read more about transformations in the general user documentation.
Export options¶
Export application layer to separate files¶
This option is active when the export selection contains multiple application layers. By default, when you export multiple application layers, all data ends up in the same result file. With this option, however, you can export the application layer to separate result files. The result files get the same name as the application layer and use export directives if these are set. They also end up directly in the project folder by default.
Include attachments¶
With this option, you also get all the attachments that are linked to the objects (point, line, polygon). During export, a subfolder Attachments is created where all attachments are placed.
For example, the result of an export becomes:

Example of export result with attachments in the Attachments folder
Example of export with attachments
Warning
When you export with attachments, the folder where you create the file must be empty. This means you must create a folder for each export when you include attachments. The requirement is natural since the Attachments subfolder should only contain attachments that belong to the exported file.
Procedure
- Select profile
in the dropdown list. - Click Format.
- Select the desired format in the list and click OK.
- Change To coordinate system or To elevation system, if transformation is relevant.
- Click Browse, enter filename and click Open.
- Click Export and the data is written to the file.
