Difference Model

Use this dialog to create a difference model based on the differences between two models. The difference model can be represented as either a triangle net or a point cloud.

Where do I find the dialog?

In the terrain model drawing context menu, after selecting the relevant objects, choose Tools - Geometric Control Difference Model.... You can also right-click in the horizontal list field for triangle net or Point cloud and select Difference Model...

Using the dialog

The result type depends on which models you compare:

  • When a theoretical model (triangle net) is compared with a point cloud, the result is a point cloud.

  • When a theoretical model is compared with another triangle net, the result is a triangle net.

Warning

Layers in models cannot be used as the theoretical model. Triangle nets must first be copied to the application layer.

Map Legends

In the dropdown list, you can select from existing map legends, which are read from MapLegends.ini in the project folder. New map legends are saved to this file when you click OK in the dialog.

Before the function is executed, the category order is validated. It must be Rejected low, Accepted, Rejected high. If the order is incorrect, the process stops with an error message.

Procedure

  1. Select a point cloud and triangle net, or two triangle nets, on the screen.
  2. Choose Geometric Control - Difference Model... from the context menu.
  3. Click New... to create a new map legend.
  4. Click Generate... to open the dialog for automatic creation of map legend intervals.
Set the desired parameters and click OK to generate the intervals.
  5. Adjust the map legend intervals with New..., Edit..., and Delete as needed.
  6. Select the application layer where the result will be saved.
  7. Click OK to perform the control and create the difference model.
