Snap to Layer

Use this dialog to snap an object (point, line, text, polygon object) or a line point in a line, polygon, or line definition to a layer in the drawing.

Where do I find the dialog?

Right-click in the horizontal list field, or in the object's geometry properties dialog, and select Snap to Layer.

Using the dialog

Procedure

  1. Select the object in the horizontal list field, or open the properties dialog for the object (not applicable for points).
  2. Right-click in the list field and select Snap to Layer....
  3. Choose whether to snap to triangle net or Terrain grid, and click OK.

Snap to triangle net

If you check triangle net, all existing points will be snapped. Additionally, points will be created on all triangle lines so that the object as a whole is snapped exactly to the triangle net.

Snap to terrain grid

If you check terrain grid, you can choose to snap only each existing point in the geometry, or also create intermediate points with elevations from the terrain grid.

If you set the density to 1 meter, you get approximately 1 meter between each point. If the density is 5 meters, you get approximately 5 meters between each point.

Note

The density set in the drawing settings dialog is used.
