Import¶
Use this dialog to import data from external formats to an application layer in Gemini Terrain.
Where do I find the dialog?¶
In the properties dialog for application layer, select the Import/export tab and press Import under the group for standard formats.
Profiles¶
The installation comes with a set of predefined profiles. The program uses these when importing SOSI data. In the dropdown list for Profile you can choose between these predefined profiles, as well as any custom profiles.
You are not allowed to change the predefined profiles. If you therefore ONLY want to select another format, you must use the profile none. Then you can easily change format by pressing the Format button.
Procedure
- Select profile
in the dropdown list. - Press Format.
- Select desired format in the list and press OK.
- Press Add and select the file(s) you want to import.
- Press Import to perform the import.
What is a profile?¶
You can save the settings you make under format as your own import profile. A profile can in addition to the format contain:
- Object filter
- Attribute filter
- XREF table (cross-reference table)
How to clip an area from a data source?¶
Often the SOSI file contains much more data than you need. You can then define an area from which you can extract data. The program will during import remove all objects that lie outside this area.
This area can be set in three ways:
- Enter the values
- Get area from file (first loaded SOSI file)
- Get area from terrain model area
Transformation¶
If the coordinate system in the project is different from the coordinate system in the file, or if the file has no information about coordinate system, you will be asked if you want to select a transformation.
- If you answer Yes – the program opens the dialog to select transformation between different coordinate systems
- If you answer No – the program imports the data as they are in the file
