Quick Print¶
Use this dialog to print a plan drawing directly from plan view.
Where do I find the dialog?¶
On the toolbar in terrain model drawing, select the icon Quick print...
Procedure
- Select the Quick print... function on the toolbar
- Select Layout (drawing name, sheet and title field)
- Select Scale and Rotation
- Click Place sheet and place the sheet in the map
- Click Print...
Quick print creates a command, QuickPrint(), in the command list.
You can have multiple quick prints in the same drawing.
Furthermore, the print model uses its own presentation, QUICKPRINT, with similar structure.

Print model for quick print
The Presentation... option in the dialog opens the print model.
We can use this option if we want to insert more elements on the sheet before printing, for example texts and legend.
Note
You must select File - Print - Print... afterwards when using the presentation option.
Coordinates and scale¶
Line stippling and text heights specified in various dialogs in the program are specified in mm. For example, the value 2 for text height will give 2 mm on the plot at standard scale (1:1000). The standard scale in the model is found in the Drawing settings dialog.
If we select a different scale in the map excerpt, for example 1:10000, then:
If "Use model scale for symbols and text" is OFF:
The text will still be 2 mm on the plot, but will appear 10 times larger relative to the geometry as it is edited in the model.
If "Use model scale for symbols and text" is ON:
Then the text on the plot will be scaled by 1/10, i.e., become 0.2 mm in size. Then geometry and text will have the same size relationship as when editing in the model.
The Detail level in raster option is used to set the resolution of the raster image in the vector file.
This will typically be BGR or WMS application layers. Note that higher settings give better resolution, but also smaller text size on annotations from most WMS servers. Higher settings can also take a long time to download and process.
We have the following predefined detail levels:
- Low
- Medium
- High
- Extreme
In addition, the user can enter a DPI value themselves. For example, for large custom sheets it may be relevant with smaller values.
Auto-rotation of texts¶
We can also check Auto-rotation of texts.
This option will rotate texts in the line definition data command so that they become horizontal (readable) in the printout.
